He is from Sowutuom, a neighborhood in Accra, Ghana. Medikal and Sarkodie received the most nominations for the 2017 Ghana Music Awards. He appeared on Tim Westwood’s show in 2018.Medikal attended Odorgonno Senior High School for his secondary studies. His parents are James Frimpong and Portia Lamptey. Samuel chose the moniker Medikal because he enjoyed rapping about doctors, surgeons, medical practitioners, and hospitals in general.
The artist compares the ultimate sound to a breath of fresh air because it combines the dynamic tempo and intensity of afrobeat with electronic dance music’s percussive and electronic vibes.
